I played golf here twice last week. What am amazing course. Not only is it beautiful but it is very “playable” for an amateur. It is not “tricked up” such that if you hit a good shot you are rewarded and if you hit a bad shot, you pay the price. Your game will be much more enjoyable if you play from the proper tees so don’t automatically go to the blue or white tees as it may be too challenging. I played from the green tees which was a good match for me. If you are contemplating playing here, you have to plan as much as a year in advance so be advised. Also, since the round is expensive, consider paying for a caddy for you and your playing partner. I know, this is even more money but it will help you immensely reading the greens and advising you where to aim your shots. After you play, you will watch and enjoy future tournaments even more than you do now as you will recall how you did playing those very same holes.

Golf course was in great shape. View spectacular, greens fast, fairways nice. Can't say enough good things about it. Once in a lifetime, I would recommend doing it if possible. I did play a couple of weeks ago, just didn't have time to review until now. Stayed at The Inn at Spanish Bay and the staff/service was unparalleled. Rooms were nice and clean. A must do!

VERY DISAPPOINTING: My family flew into the area for a reunion for the first time in fifteen years. It was a bucket list trip decades in the making. Cons: 1) We came during Car Week which meant that it was chaotic. We weren’t told it was Car Week and with an elderly parent with mobility issues this was problematic. We had to park far from the club house and then walk to a shuttle stop to take us to the course. There was nobody to direct us. 2) After being driven to the range to hit balls, there was no transport back to the course. We had to wait and finally we were taken in a maintenance buggy and another buggy. 3) There is little effort to maintain pace of play. It took 5.5 hours to get around. Caddies encourage players to hit several shots even if their first is in play. Completely unacceptable as we had to finish in the dark. 4) We had booked dinner weeks in advance thru the concierge system. However, when we went to the restaurant there was no record of the reservation - even though my emails to Pebble Beach Concierge show the exchange. I showed these to the concierge in The Lodge ; they apologized but said there was nothing they could do. 5) A shuttle took us back to the parking lot but said it couldn’t go in so we had to walk thru the forest in the dark with our bags to find our car. Pros: 1) The course did NOT disappoint. 2) The staff were very friendly and despite the conditions, tried to be helpful.

Almost perfect....short of the noise and interruption of maintenance crews on the course during play. At the cost of a round of golf here, expected a more peaceful and less disrupted experience. The beauty of the course is stunning!

Absolutely amazing course. Was lucky enough to be invited to play and this course exceeded all expectations. Great experience, spectacular golf course, and accommodating hotel staff. The only complaint I could make was the halfway house, Neville’s between 9 and 10, serving an embarrassing limp and soggy boiled hot dog. Somewhat surprising for a 600 dollar golf course to be serving a worse hot dog than the local county jail. Put a grill at the turn with a few items containing nutritional value and this would be the best place on earth.
